The Faces of Women Empowered

Following, you will find four profiles of women we have served and their comments about the changes in their lives. 

Their faces… Island faces…what do they look like?

Often it is the worried face, of a woman burdened with credit card debt. A face that today is less worried as she puts into practice what she has learned in our checkbook and family budget classes. She has made arrangements to have her interest rates reduced. She has made the decision that she is able to live within her means. Once debt free she has decided to evaluate her "need" for use of a credit card.
"I feel ten years younger since beginning my classes at Women Empowered".

It may be the look of stress, a single parent who works two jobs trying to provide shelter, clothing and food for herself and her son. She longs to spend more time with her child. She has the skills and drive that are necessary to work out of her home. We helped her get in touch with financial resources. She will soon be opening her own in-home business.
"I would never have had the courage to think that I could make this move and succeed, if Women Empowered had not encourage me to think about my potential."

Possibly the face of concern, like that of the family with a teenager who was facing a time sensitive issue and not dealing with it successfully. Using the decision making/problem solving intensive workshop that we offer, the family worked through the issue successfully, as a unit. This was accomplished both to the parent’s and the teenager’s satisfaction.
"We are so grateful for Women Empowered."

Definitely the face of sadness, a woman in mid life who finds herself alone and overwhelmed by the responsibilities of her own life as well as those of her aging parents and a terminally ill sibling. Helping her tap into her inner resources as well as teaching her some valuable coping skills, we hear her say over and over, "I feel like a millstone has been lifted from my neck since I have been working with you all."

These are only a few of the more than 107 stories that could be told of anxiety reduced, healthy focus and confidence restored, and life goals being realized.  Theses are only a few of the “faces” of Women Empowered.  Our own “Island Faces”. 

The Faces of Women Empowered uses stories of actual clients with their permission. Photos used are public domain and do not contain likeness of clients. 

The services W. E. offers, free to our clients, are taught by trained volunteer staff. In some cases the "trained volunteers" are retired professionals offering their experience and expertise to W.E. and the island they call home.
